PIXELS

"Pixels" is an ongoing generative art series that explores the essence of the pixel—the fundamental unit of digital imagery. As a research-driven endeavor, the series crafts random patterns of glitchy, pixelated GIFs with varying sizes and colors. This exploratory work aims to digitally mirror the spiritual vibrancy and luminous complexity of gold backgrounds found in ancient religious icons. By drawing parallels between real light and digital light, pixels are envisioned as digital photons, investigating the intersection of technology, art, and spirituality.

In "Pixels," I engage with code to create generative art that reimagines the pixel as more than just the smallest digital asset—it becomes a digital photon, a building block of digital light. This series represents my ongoing research and exploration into how pixels can replicate the spiritual depth and radiant complexity of the gold backgrounds in old religious icons.

The glitchy, pixelated GIFs, with their random patterns and varying hues, serve as a contemporary canvas to capture the vibrancy and luminosity that gold leaf brought to sacred art. Through this work, I am continuously experimenting and seeking ways to bridge the gap between the tangible richness of traditional materials and the intangible realm of digital media. "Pixel" is not a definitive series but a perpetual journey toward discovering a digital equivalent that embodies the same spiritual resonance and visual intensity as those time-honored masterpieces.
